Microsoft's ambient AI assistant for healthcare. Dragon Copilot combines Dragon Medical One dictation with ambient listening and generative AI to create structured clinical notes from patient consultations.
Dragon Copilot is Microsoft's unified clinical AI assistant that brings together Dragon Medical One's proven speech recognition with DAX Copilot ambient listening technology and generative AI. Rather than requiring clinicians to dictate notes after a consultation, Dragon Copilot listens to the natural conversation between clinician and patient and generates structured clinical notes automatically.
This represents the next step beyond Dragon Medical One. Where DMO requires the clinician to dictate into the record, Copilot aims to remove the documentation step entirely by capturing the consultation as it happens.
Listens to clinician-patient conversations and generates structured clinical notes, including SOAP-style documentation, without the clinician needing to dictate.
Includes Dragon Medical One dictation alongside ambient AI. Clinicians can choose to dictate when they prefer, or let Copilot listen and draft notes from the conversation.
Designed to integrate with major electronic health record systems. Works within existing clinical workflows to reduce the documentation burden on clinicians.
Built on Microsoft's healthcare cloud infrastructure with security, privacy, and compliance controls designed for clinical environments.
As of March 2026, Dragon Copilot is available for physician workflows in a number of countries. Australia is not yet on the publicly listed availability list. We expect Australian availability in due course, though no specific date has been confirmed by Microsoft.

Availability information based on Microsoft's publicly listed Dragon Copilot availability as of March 2026. Nursing workflows are currently US-only. Radiology described as preview/US-only.
Dragon Copilot generates clinical notes using generative AI. This means the output is not a verbatim transcript of what the clinician said - it is a structured summary generated by AI. Clinicians must review and approve all generated notes before they are committed to the patient record.
For clinicians who require verbatim transcription where exactly what they say appears in the record, Dragon Medical One continues to be the appropriate solution. Many clinicians may use both - DMO for direct dictation and Copilot for ambient consultation documentation.
Be among the first Australian clinicians notified when Dragon Copilot becomes available. No obligation.
